The welcoming ceremony is long but interesting. The Chief prepares the Kava and then shares a bowl with the leader of the visiting group. We elected our Chief on the bus ride to the village. Our Chief is the guy who got the first bowl of Kava but was off screen in the video. He took a sip and then asked if he should drink it all and they of course said yes. Too much Kava can do strange things to you. Even a little can make your mouth go numb.
