Caribbean Cruise - At Sea - Day 4 - 12/21/2012

Due to the distance to our next destination of Bonaire, we have a day at sea without a port call.  That is good.  If you have a never ending string of port calls, you can get burned out.  It is nice to have a day of pure relaxation.  Of course, that doesn't mean that you have nothing to do.  The ship has a huge list of daily activities if you want to get out of your cabin.  The variety of activities is amazing....more than you would ever have at home.

On this particular day, we have been invited by the Captain to a brunch, along with all the other members of the Holland America Mariners Society (those people with multiple HA cruises under their belts).  We are Two Star members and nearing Three Star status.  Sounds impressive doesn't it.  What it means is we get a couple of free glasses of average quality champagne at lunches like these, exclusive mailings announcing future cruises (at the same price as everyone else), and 15% discounts on drinks and merchandise on the ship (we are not big purchasers).  I don't know if we will ever get to the Four Star level (200 cruise days).  That is where the good stuff really kicks in like free laundry and pressing.

Here are a few photos of the brunch.  I don't know why they called it a brunch since there were no breakfast style foods served.  It was not a buffet...we had to order off a limited menu.  To me it was just a three course lunch at 11:00 am.  As you can see, the dining room is very lavishly decorated with lots of Christmas flare.

These photos were of the folks at our table.  Seating was as-you-arrive so we didn't know anyone.  Part of the fun of a cruise is meeting people from all over the world.  Everyone is very friendly.

One other thing to notice is that all the people in the photos are "seasoned" travelers which is also nice because they have lots of good stories to tell.

On to Bonaire.
