September 25th was my 65th birthday. Sigrid treated me to two days of celebrations including a couple of movies, dining, and a small gathering at our house for the official "blowing out the candle" ceremony.
I like apple and cherry pies much better than I do cakes, so Edel DeMaria made me a great cherry pie.
We used only one candle on the pie rather then 65 of them. A few years ago, we had a scare when we tried to use a candle for each year. When the candles were all lit, the flames joined together into a vortex that got really big.....I thought we would burn down the house. We finally got the candles out, but it wasn't a one person job. One candle is enough when you get this old.
