US 24 Highway in the Fall - 9/13/2020

 We enjoy driving US 24 Highway between Independence and Waverly Missouri at all times of the year. The small towns are a step back in time. Lush corn and soybean crops on the rolling hills are beautiful in the summer. The road is lined with orchards and fruit stands with peaches, apples, and other locally grown fruits and vegetables as seasons allow. Thursday thru Saturday are the best days to explore. Many things are closed on Sundays. Look for the 224 Highway which takes you along the banks for the Missouri River and through the towns of Napoleon and Wellington.

It is amazing how many apples grow on one tree.

The apples on the ground are referred to as "windfall" apples and may find there way into cider or apple butter.

Back Yard Flowers - August 2020

 More Back Yard Flowers. While we are not locked down as before, we continue to spend more time at home and are enjoying our own yard more than ever before. Maybe 2020 isn't all bad.   

Back Yard July 2020 Adventure

It's a beautiful day today with beautiful things to photo. As I stalk the butterflies on Sigrid Browning's flowers, I get the thrill of the hunt and the neighbors have a laugh as I hop from flower to flower trying to get a good shot.

Our cherry tomatoes are doing well after adding netting to keep the deer away.

July 4th 2020 In the Neighborhood

With most of the large city fireworks displays being cancelled this year, the neighborhood shows were extra large.  In our neighborhood, families celebrated together and pooled their fireworks to put on one grand display.

And somehow, our garden angel was able to sleep through it all.
